Hive Mind (Intellect) Horde Army Over View Part 1

General Overview of Hive Armies Part 1 


All units in a Hive Army must! Have 1 of the Hive Mind Attributes this is Mandatory not optional. The Hive Intellect is unconcerned with losses so the entire army is Immune to Psychology & Can Never be effected by Suppression Fire & As they have no concern for their Personal Safety they can Never go prone. Any unit that is out of control of the Hive Mind becomes subject to Instinctive Behavior as most of the units are no more intelligent than any other predator Animal on without the driving force of the Hive Mind. Loss of control by the Hive Intellect can happen in a Number of ways. when the Connection to the Hive Mind is Severed the unit becomes subject to Psychology & are Bloodthirsty. Due to the Blood lust the Unit Must Assault any Enemy That is in range they must Charge into Close Combat & while Charging they are immune to Suppression Fire. First the Units of Drone Warrior are not themselves Directly linked to the Hive Mind but are linked to it by a specialized Commander which has evolved the ability to be a Node for the Hive Mind. Hive Mind Node Must be attached to a Unit & no Drone unit can deploy without an attached Hive Mind Node. The Biggest disadvantage to the Hive Nodes & Drone Arrangement is if a unit of drones is without a Node beginning immediately when the Node dies the Drone Warriors no longer are controlled by the Hive Mind until another Hive Node takes control of the unit. Secondly if the Hive Mind Grand Lord (Army General) is Killed all units must test to see if the link to the hive Mind has been interrupted All units have a chance of loosing connection to the Hive Intellect based on their level of connection to the Hive Mind. A Hive Mind Lord & Units in his Direct area of Influence are Least Likely (Only 15 to 20% Chance of Loosing Direct Connection to the Hive Mind) to loose the connection to the Hives Controlling Intellect. Hive Mind Clusters Can Usually (Maintain Connection 60 to 65% of the Time) Maintain Their Link to the Intellect in control of the Hive Mind, but can become disconnected to the Hive Mind & Become Subject to Extreme Instinctive Behavior. For The Hive Mind Nodes the Disconnection Can Actually be Fatal (75% chance of Psychic Over Load) If the Hive Mind Nodes loose Connection (45 to 50% Chance of Loosing Connection) if failed they are Bloodthirsty (subject to Frenzy) & Instinctive behavior + In Addition All Drone Units are Now Subject to Extreme Instinctive behavior.


Hive Mind Drone Warrior: Immune Psychology, Ignore suppression, Improved Squad Coherency & Assault with 1 Action & Always Counter Assault (Charge) When Assaulted. Negatives the Unit can not go prone & the Unit is Subject to Instinctive Behavior. In addition Drone Warrior Units Never Have Ranged Weapon & are Limited to a Medium Exoskeleton Armor (Carapace or Hard Suit Armor) & are allowed one of the Following Regeneration (30 to 35% Ignores any Wound), Agility (Ignore Difficult Terrain & +1 Move), Bounding Leaping ( at the end of any move may leap 2" or 4" if Running Unaffected By Terrain), Fast (+2 Base Move), Infiltration (May deploy anywhere at least 6" from any Enemy & Out of  L.O.S.) or Chameleon (Improves Effect of any cover). Frenzy Unit Takes D3 Hits after Assaults from its uncontrolled Blood Rage


Drone Instinctive Behavior

 
Must be lead by a Hive Node Creature For each hit the squad suffers roll 1D6 on the roll of a 1 the leader takes the hit if the Hive Node is lost test for instinctive behavior immediately & for each action until back in control of the hive mind Roll 2D6 to determine action.
37% Assault nearest Target Friend or Foe & becomes subject to frenzy

28% Assault nearest enemy & becomes subject to frenzy
9%  Move random direction If the move Bring them within 3" of another Unit Friend Or Foe Roll 1D6 on the roll of a 2 or bellow the must immediately assault the unit Frenzy
17% Move towards nearest friendly unit & if within the units Squad Coherency test verses mental stat -2 to join unit if failed you must Immediately assault the Unit even if out of normal assault distance this is a free action.
9%  Join nearest friendly unit no test

*Frenzy Unit Takes D3 Hits after Assaults from its uncontrolled Blood Rage

Hive Mind Node: Required! Between 1 & 2 of these units Must Join every Drone Unit, they are Subject to all the Rules of the Attached Unit. Control Drones (They may attempt to control 80% Any Drone units in Squad Coherency take a (if another Node is with the other Squad Both Nodes must Pass the Test (the other Node 70%) to Combine) the Number of models a Squad is not Limited) Mixed Units (If the 2 Squads have different Abilities The appropriate models may use them if Practical Other wise they are Lost). Energize (May Restore D3 Troops that have been wounded this requires a complete action of the Squad This Ability is only usable if more than 1 Hive Node is in a Squad as it requires 1 Node to Maintain the Hive Minds Influence & every other Node May use this ability with a single action.) Assault Fire (May Fires ranged weapons when assaulting). May form a Hive Mind Cluster If 3 or more Hive Nodes are in a Single Unit They are a Hive Mind Clusters & will Gain the Benefits for being a Hive Mind Node Cluster.  While in Under the Control of the Hive Mind they & any unit they Control are immune to Telepathic Control & Manipulation.


I will be adding the Hive Mind General Rules & Ideas over the next few Weeks. The initial Perk for all Most Squads is Above with the first Instinctive Behavior chart which corresponds to it.





 Rules for Using A Hive Mind Force in Gruntz V1.1

Any unit that is out of control of the Hive Mind becomes subject to Instinctive Behavior as most of the units are no more intelligent than any other predator. Loss of control by the Hive Intellect can happen in a Number of ways (when this happens the unit becomes subject to Mental Checks & are Bloodthirsty but are still immune to Suppression). First the Units of Drone Warrior are not themselves Directly linked to the Hive Mind but are linked to it by a specialist unit with Hive Mind Node that is attached to a Squad, if this unit dies the Drone Warriors no longer are controlled by the Hive Mind until another Hive Node takes control of the unit. Secondly if the Hive Mind Grand Lord (Army General) is Killed all units must test to see if the link to the hive Mind has been interrupted Mental test (Vehicles Test as a Mental Stat of 11 As Either Hive Clusters Or Hive Nodes) at a -1 for Hive Mind Lords -2 for Hive Mind Clusters & -3 for Hive Mind Nodes if failed they are Bloodthirsty (subject to Frenzy) & Instinctive behavior + In Addition All Drone Units are at a -2 to their Instinctive behavior rolls for the rest of the game with 2 being the lowest result.

3 Points Hive Mind Drone Warrior:  Immune to Mental checks, Ignore suppression, Squad Coherency 6 inches & Assault with 1 Action & Always get to React Assault When Assaulted. Negatives the Unit can not go prone & the Unit is Subject to Instinctive Behavior. In addition Drone Warrior Units may not Have Ranged Weapon & are Limited to a Soak of 13 & are limited to the following perks Ultimate Agility, Long Runners, Jump Pack, Bullet Time, Infiltrator, Aquatic, Active Camo, Auto-Heal, Infected, Over the Top & Pay the usual 5 points extra for this is a second perk.


Drone Instinctive Behavior

 
Must be lead by a Specialist For each hit the squad suffers roll 1D6 on the roll of a 1 the leader takes the hit if leader dies test for instinctive behavior immediately & for each action until back in control of the hive mind Roll 2D6 to determine action.
2-5 Assault nearest Target Friend or Foe & becomes subject to frenzy
6-8 Assault nearest enemy & becomes subject to frenzy
9 Move random direction
10-11 Move towards nearest friendly unit & if within the units Squad Coherency test verses mental stat -2 to join unit if failed you must Immediately assault the Unit even if out of normal assault distance this is a free action.
12 Join nearest friendly unit no test

4 Point Hive Mind Node:Required! Between 1 & 2 of these units Must Join every Drone Unit, they are Subject to all the Rules of the Attached Unit & Purchase the Same Modz or Perks of the Unit. Control Drones (They may attempt to control Any Drone units in Squad Coherency 6 inches take a Mental Test (if another Node is with the other Squad Both Nodes must Pass the Test (at -2 for the other Node) to Combine) this can take the Squad beyond 10 Models, Number of Models is Not Limited.) Mixed Units (If the 2 Squads have different Perks The appropriate models may use the Perks if Practical Other wise the Perks become Unusable).
